The Secret of Making Your Business Disappear

Today's topic is The Secret of Making Your Business Disappear. That's right. We're going to talk about the secret of making your small business disappear.

Here's what you should do if you want to see your business disappear, either go bankrupt, go out of business, etc.

The first thing you should do is spend no money on marketing. Completely build your business by word of mouth. That's the first thing. Avoid spending any money on marketing because nobody wants to spend money to tell other people what they're doing.

All you need to do is open your business and, like magic, people are going to be attracted to you. They're going to come into your business in a sizeable fashion and you can continue to grow it.

The second thing you need to do is, don't reach out consistently to current customers or people who've raised their hand and said, "Hey, I might be interested, but I'm not interested right now today."

Once you make a sale, pretty much ignore your customers. Don't send them emails. Don't send them newsletters. Don't send them special offers. Pretty much, reach out to them when they come into your shop or call you. That's the second secret you need to do to grow your business in the negative.

Third thing to do is, don't track your marketing. Don't track anything you spend. If you've got money, and somebody comes in, an advertiser or something, and promotes a special advertising mechanism for you, simply spend the money. Don't track if it works. Use one phone number for everything. Don't ask people how they found out about you, etc. Throw money away at doing it that way.

The fourth thing, which is related to the third thing, is, focus on brand awareness advertising for your small business because that's something that really feels good. When you see, for example, Coca‑Cola, Pepsi, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, or Nike spending a lot of money getting the brand out there, you should do it too.

You can get your company out there. Like magic, the brand awareness is going to drive traffic to your small business. It'll feel good, too, because you can show people, "Look, I'm on television. I'm on radio, etc. I have no special offer. Look, it's the brand. It's all about the brand."

If you do these four things, which are spend no money on marketing, don't reach out consistently to your customers or prospects, don't track your marketing, and focus on brand awareness advertising instead of direct response advertising, you can ensure that your business is going to be one of those businesses that gets eaten alive by your competitors.

Now, obviously, you don't want that to happen. Do the opposite of everything I just said if you want your business to grow. If you want some help in either growing your business on your own with some guided help from us or you want us to handle your marketing, give me a call.
